PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico men's basketball welcomes Derrick Daniels to the 2025-26 roster after he spent two seasons with Ranger College.
"Derrick is a dynamic forward bringing serious athleticism and experience to our already veteran laden team," said head coach Daven Võ. "Our fans and the Portales community will enjoy cheering for him in The Loy."
As a sophomore at Ranger, the newest Greyhound averaged 10.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He helped the program earn 17 wins and advance to the region five tournament quarterfinals.
In his freshman campaign, he earned second team all-conference honors from the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) after posting 8.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest. He posted 15 games, scoring in double figures and helped the Rangers go 27-8 (12-2 NTJAC) on their way to advancing to the second round of the NJCAA national tournament. One of his best games that season came on the road versus Hill College (2/4) as he scored 20 points and pulled down an impressive 22 rebounds.
Originally from Dayton, Ohio, Daniels played three seasons for Thurgood Marshall High School. He helped the school finish atop the conference once with a perfect record. Daniels helped his team play in three state playoffs, including one appearance to the state semifinal game.
