ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico men's cross country stayed in-state for a 5k race hosted by the University of New Mexico at the UNM North Golf Course.
"We didn't have our full group racing this weekend, and we didn't quite put ourselves in the race the way we needed to," said assistant coach Keyanah Browning. "Still, it served as a speed-endurance effort and gave us a good look at where we are as a team at this point in the season. We're going to take the time to train and prepare for the next meet."
The Lobo Cross Country Invitational featured New Mexico State, El Paso Community College, UTEP, and Northern New Mexico. The morning provided a slight sprinkle with overcast conditions on the hilly nine hole golf course in Albuquerque.
ENMU's top finisher in the race was
Eloy Serrano Borrego who took 16th in the 34-person field. The Spain native crossed the line in 16:17.93.
Fourth other Hounds competed at the meet. Those included
Thomas Aerdts (18:24.06),
Aiden Ramirez (18:31.92),
Emmanuel Hernandez (18:57.32), and
Alec Forney (21:09.34).
Eastern New Mexico will be away from competition for two weeks as they prepare for the NMJC Invitational on September 26.
