RICHARDSON, Texas – Diamond sports are back in action next week at Eastern New Mexico University. The Lone Star Conference has released the 2026 preseason poll and lists the Greyhounds eighth among the 14-team conference.

ENMU baseball is set to begin the 2026 season on Jan. 30 with a three-game series against Texas A&M-Kingsville. The new schedule format features all 50 games against conference foes. Eastern will host series with Texas A&M-Kingsville (Jan. 30 – Feb. 1), West Texas A&M (Feb. 13-15), UT Permian Basin (Mar. 6-8), Sul Ross State (Mar. 20-22), St. Mary's (Apr. 2-4), and Angelo State (Apr. 17-19).
The top three teams in the preseason poll include UT Tyler (603 pts), Angelo State (599 pts), and Lubbock Christian (510 pts). Both UT Tyler and ASU earned 20 first place votes out of the possible 42.
Eastern New Mexico's
Adrien Martin was named a preseason player to watch. In 2025, he started 43 games and appeared in 45 total. Martin finished with a .285 batting average and .477 slugging percentage. He totaled 37 hits with 13 of them going for multi-bases.
Nick Mooney earned preseason pitcher to watch honors for ENMU. Last season, he played in 11 games and made 10 starts. Mooney closed out the campaign with a 4-2 nod on the mound throwing 30 strikeouts over 44.1 innings of work. He posted a 5.89 ERA over 2025.
