PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico baseball is set for a four-game home series against UT Permian Basin. Before first pitch, please read the Four Bases Preview:
First Base – Series Split: Eastern New Mexico is coming off a series split with Cameron. The road trip to Lawton saw Eastern win both nine inning contests. The wins came by scores of 11-3 and 8-7. The two doubleheader losses saw scores of 7-3 and 4-2. Four Greyhounds had multi-hit games in the first contest with the Aggies.
Gabriel Watson drove in three runs while securing two hits in the outing.
Logan Martin scored three runs and totaled two hits and a walk.
Cole Lancaster was effective throwing six innings in the win. On Sunday, the team had four multi-hit performers, including
Eiji Sawamura who posted three hits and a run.
Demitrius DiMatteo got the start on the mound for Eastern and went six innings in a no decision effort.
Second Base – Hounds Notes: Eastern New Mexico ranks sixth in the conference with 32 hit batters. ENMU has posted 154 hits and 12 homers which both rank in the top 100 among all NCAA DII programs. The Greyhounds are seventh in the LSC with a .952 fielding percentage. Another area where ENMU excels is ranking seventh in the conference with 22 steals.
Third Base – Visitors from Odessa: UT Permian Basin is first in the Lone Star and third nationally with 47 hit batters. UTPB has one shutout on the season, which ties for second in the LSC. The only shutout came in a 2-0 result over then-No. 12 Angelo State on Feb. 1. A trio of pitchers were featured in the victory. Damian Robles got the start on the mound and only allowed 10 runners to reach base over 5.2 innings. Those came courtesy of six walks, three hits, and a hit batter. Zeke Alexander provided great support on the mound in relief with three innings of work and giving up just two walks, two hit by pitches, and a hit.

Eiji Sawamura is one of the top hitters for Eastern New Mexico as he boasts a .373 batting average. He has 25 hits and 12 runs through the first 18 games of the season. Another top batter for Eastern is

Gabriel Watson has stepped up in his first season in Portales with a .328 batting average featuring three doubles and three homers.
Isaiah Figueroa is slowly getting reps in the lineup for ENMU and he holds a .300 mark at the plate. Figueroa holds a dozen hits and five RBI's. This weekend's contest will be available on FloCollege and stats can be viewed on StatBroadcast.
