PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico University women's soccer continues Lone Star Conference play Wednesday evening, traveling to Richardson, Texas, to face UT Dallas. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT (7 p.m. CT) at the UTD Soccer Complex. The Greyhounds enter the match at 1-4-1 overall and 0-3 in conference play, while the Comets sit at 5-2-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the LSC.
Eastern New Mexico is coming off a close 2-1 loss at UT Permian Basin on Saturday. The Greyhounds produced one of their stronger offensive performances of the season against the Falcons, finishing with 13 shots and seven attempts on goal.
Isabel Ramirez scored ENMU's lone goal, while
Raylene Carillo picked up the assist.
Carillo has been one of the Greyhounds' top offensive threats through six matches, leading the team with 11 shots and eight shots on goal while recording two assists. Arissa C'DeBaca,
Addison Garver and Ramirez have each scored once this season. In goal,
Aja Gonzales has made 42 saves through six matches, including 12 saves in each of ENMU's last two contests.
UT Dallas enters Wednesday's matchup with a 5-2-1 record and was picked fourth in the LSC preseason coaches poll. Gabby Thompson leads the Comets with four goals, while Jules Chavez has added three. Ella Spiller has been active in the attack with 26 shots, ranking among the conference leaders.
Wednesday will mark just the second meeting between the two programs. UT Dallas won the inaugural matchup, 4-1, last season in Portales.
Following Wednesday's match, the Greyhounds return home to host Dallas Baptist University on Friday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. DBU is currently ranked #3 in the nation with a record of 7-0, 4-0 in Lone Star play. The Patriots have allowed just three goals through seven matches while scoring twenty-seven.
Friday's match will also feature a pre-game special presentation honoring Suicide Awareness month.
