PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico volleyball team sets out on the road for the second week of conference play. The Greyhounds will face Texas Woman's on Friday, September 25 at 5 p.m. in Denton, Texas at the Kitty Magee Arena. ENMU will play against Dallas Baptist on Saturday, September 26 at 1 p.m. in Dallas, Texas at the Burg Center.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
Eastern New Mexico comes into the weekend after going 1-1 in its home opener weekend to start conference play. ENMU defeated Texas A&M International in three straight sets on Friday before taking Texas A&M-Kingsville to five sets and falling in the fifth on Saturday.
Sophia Valdez leads the Greyhounds with 184 kills on the season and is 4th in the LSC in kills per set at 2.00 while
Amya Speller has recorded 142 kills and and is 15th in the LSC also at 2.00.
Transfer
Jordan Garcia has been a defensive leader for the Hounds this season. Garcia has recorded 126 digs and 16 service aces. Freshman
Maya Perea follows closely with 123 digs on the season.
Freshman
Sydney Pipkin has been a key all around player for ENMU, leading with 421 assists. Pipkin is also among the leaders on the team with 13 service aces, 121 digs, 62 kills, and 14.0 blocks.
Eastern currently sits at 5th in the conference in kills, with 653 total in the season so far.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
- The Pioneers come into the weekend with a 3-8 overall record, 0-1 in LSC play.
- TWU fell to DBU in three sets this past Saturday.
- Mary Grace King leads the team at sixth in the LSC with 133 kills going 3.33 kills per
set.
- Montserrat Soto-Talavera leads the team and the conference with 45 total blocks,
- averaging 1.22 blocks per set and recording two solo blocks as well as 43 block assists.
- TWU leads the overall series over ENMU, 30-21.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
- The Patriots come into this contest boasting a 9-2 overall record and 2-0 in conference play
- DBU began conference play this past week, defeating Texas A&M International 3-2 on Tuesday and Texas Woman's 3-0 on Saturday.
- Karly Wells leads the team in kills with 129 and sits at 3rd in the conference. Wells also sits at 3rd in the conference in points, recording a total of 137, 3.91 per set.
- Aizlyn Dewberry leads the team defensively with 48 blocks on the season. Dewberry sits at 2nd in the conference in blocks, following Texas Woman's Montserrat Soto-Talavera.
- Wells and Dewberry were DBU's offensive and defensive leaders from the 2025 season as well.
- DBU holds the lead in the overall series over ENMU, 11-4 with the last win for the Greyhounds being in Octobr of 2014.
