PORTALES, N.M. — With three wins in their last four matches, the Eastern New Mexico University women's soccer team (6-5; LSC 3-2) is in strong position for the upcoming Lone Star Conference tournament. Currently tied for second in the standings, the Zias will host a West Texas A&M team, which has vaulted into fourth place in the league.
Both teams earned big wins on Sunday, with ENMU handing Angelo State its first loss of the season, while the Lady Buffs defeated Midwestern State. Eastern has posted a 4-1 record at home this season, while West Texas A&M's road record is 2-4. Over the last two meetings, only one goal has been scored between the teams, as last season, the series closed with a scoreless tie, in Canyon.

In the Numbers Alyxandra Ortiz (Jr., GK, El Paso, Texas/V. Sue Cleveland HS) is ranked third in career minutes played by an ENMU goalkeeper and third in games started and played for a goalkeeper. She also is third in career shutouts and is tied for the team record in ties. Ortiz is third on the career lists for wins (11) and fourth in goals against average (1.33). Wilson is fourth in goals against average (1.36) and tied for fifth in wins (4). Perez is ninth in career points (22), while
Maurisa Jones (Sr., F, Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills HS) is tenth (20) and Prince has vaulted to seventh (24). Jones and Prince are tied for fifth in goals (10), while Perez is tied for eighth (9).
Carolyn Armijo (Jr., MF, Mesilla Park, N.M./Las Cruces HS) is tied for sixth on the career assist list (7) and two away from moving up.
Last season, the Zias posted a 4-8-5 record with a 1-5-4 mark in Lone Star Conference play. The team played in a NCAA Division II record 10 overtime contests and earned five ties. Eight of those games went into a second overtime session. Eastern had at least one overtime game against every LSC opponent and two double overtime games against Angelo State.

The last time WT came to Portales, Eastern charged to a 4-0 lead and didn't allow a goal until 4:58 remained,
en-route to the 4-1 win. Jones scored twice, while Prince had a pair of assists.
