PORTALES, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico University baseball team (29-17, 7-11 LSC) travels to Odessa to take on Texas-Permian Basin (8-37, 1-19 LSC) for the final series of the regular season. With a sweep of the Falcons, the Greyhounds would clinch the final spot in the Lone Star Conference tournament, finishing half a game ahead of Tarleton State.

The Greyhounds are amidst the second-best turnaround in NCAA Division II since 1998, trailing only North Greenville in 2010 who went 10-40 before going 46-14 and earning a trip to the College World Series. ENMU currently has the second-best record in program history, behind the 1996 squad that won 34 games.

Infielder
Alex DeLaCruz ranks in the top 10 in school history in virtually all offensive categories. The second baseman is second in batting average (needs eight points for record), second in runs scored (needs one run for record), fifth in on-base percentage (needs 24 points for record), sixth in slugging (needs 101 points for record), seventh in stolen bases and ninth in hits (needs 11 hits for record). Mike McNicholl also ranks in the top 10 in RBI, needing 16 to break the record while
Endy Villalona is six walks shy of the single-season record.

Keenan Dodd (6-3, 2.94),
Austin Paisar (5-3, 3.48) and
Enrique Perez (2-0, 3.10) all rank in the top 10 in ERA. In addition to ranking second nationally in strikeouts per 9.0 IP,
Victor Persad (0-0, 4.56 ERA, 2 Sv.),
Dwight Velarde (4-2, 4.13 ERA, 3 Sv.) and
Scott Klein (4-4, 4.53 ERA) rank first, second and third, respectively in school history.
