PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico softball will be hosting an open Home Run Derby on Nov. 2
nd at 9 a.m. at the Greyhound Softball Field.
The derby will be open to all students, faculty and community members and will consist of an individual and team competition. All funds generated by this event will go directly to the softball program and the individual with the most homeruns at the conclusion of the event will win an exclusive Under Armour back pack and the winning team will all get championship t-shirts.
Individuals can pay $15 for 20 swings or can form teams of five people and pay $50 a team ($10 a person) and get the same 20 swings. Eastern New Mexico softball will have a pitching machine set up and will also serve as the official judges for the event.
Individual competitors can pay $1 a ball following their first 20 swings, with a max of 10 additional $1 swings. Teams can pay an additional $5 for five extra swings (one swing per member), but can only purchase those additional five swings a maximum of four times.
The individual competition will get started at 9 a.m. on Nov. 2
nd, followed by the team competition at noon. Participants can pre-register with Eastern New Mexico assistant coach
