ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Eastern New Mexico track and field team saw a record-breaking performance in the women's 4x400-meter relay and several other top marks in the ENMU record book were set at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico on Friday and Saturday.

In the final event of the meet, the ENMU women's 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Kandice Miles, Danee Bustos, Kiana Covington, and Maijah Mathis shattered the record after finishing with a combined time of 3:56.15. The team beat the previous record of 3:59.21 set by Bustos, Covington, Miles and Mason Swanson set at last year's Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships by more than three seconds.

Bustos continued her climb up the ENMU ranks in the 60-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 7.78 to place 16^th out of 61 competitors. She improved upon her previous best of 7.82 set at last week's Texas Tech Open and climbed into a tie for the third-fastest 60-meter indoor time at ENMU with Mathis, just 0.03 seconds back of Dominique Zamora's program-best mark.

The men's 4x400-meter meter team of Travonne Armstead, Ezra Bagwell, Brandon Chavez, and Andrew Villegas produced the third-best relay mark in the history of the program after totaling a 3:19.59, just 2.49 seconds off of the record mark set by Armstead, Chavez, Moinat, and Villegas at the Texas Tech Open last week.

Junior middle distance runner Ivar Moinat turned in another strong performance for the Greyhounds in the 400-meter, turning in the fifth-best time of 48.97 while also placing fifth in the 800-meters with a time of 1:52.04. While Moinat didn't quite hit his ENMU record marks in either event, Chavez's mark of 49.47 in the 400-meter set the fourth-fastest mark in program history.

Senior distance runner Mercy Rotich continues to make her marks on the record book in her first season as a track and field runner. In the Mile, Rotich ran a 5:18.65 to place 15^th out of 35 competitors, setting the fifth-fastest mile mark in program history a week removed from setting the program's third-best 3000-meter time at the Texas Tech Open.

In the long jump, senior sprinter Zhane' Gurule set the fifth-best long jump in the history of the program after recording a 4.82-meter (15' 9 ¾") mark.

The completion of the meet wraps up the Greyhounds indoor regular season as the Hounds will now turn their attention toward the Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships that will be held at Texas Tech University from Feb. 16-17.
