AUSTIN, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico track and field team put together some solid performances at the 92nd Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Friday.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Travonne Armstead, Brandon Chavez, Andrew Villegas, and Ivar Moinat closed out the meet with the second-fastest time in program history after coming away with a 3:18.24 for 28th place. The mark was the fastest time in the men's 4x400-meter relay for the Hounds since the 2017 season.
Eastern opened the meet with the women's 4x100-meter relay, as the four woman squad consisting of Zhane' Gurule, Lateria Slaughter, Maijah Mathis, and Kandice Miles turned in a time of 48.63.
Mathis and Slaughter later competed in the women's 100-meter dash, as Mathis came away with a time of 12.20 while Slaughter crossed the finish line in 12.57.
In the men's 100-meter, Armstead turned in a time of 11.03 while Chavez crossed in 11.22 for their top 100-meter dash marks of the season.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Mathis, Miles, Kiana Covington and Mason Swanson finished with a time of 4:00.25.
The Hounds will now make preparations for their next meet, the West Texas A&M Classic and Multi from April 5-6 in Canyon, Texas.
