PITTSBURG, Kan. – Eastern New Mexico junior middle distance runner Ivar Moinat ran the fourth fastest time in the 800-meter prelims at the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships on Friday to qualify for the championship heat on Saturday.

Moinat ran a strong final leg to cross the finish line in 1:51.40, taking third in his heat and fourth overall in the event. Moinat was one of eight runners selected to compete in the 800-meter final with the opportunity at becoming the 800-meter national champion.

Moinat entered this weekend's championships with the 11th fastest time in NCAA Division II with a 1:50.68, which was converted down from his ENMU record-breaking time of 1:51.00 set at the Texas Tech Open due to elevation.

In the women's 200-meter prelims, senior sprinter Danee Bustos finished with a 24.94 to place fourth in her heat and 18th overall to wrap up her indoor season.

Bustos ran in her second career NCAA Indoor Championship 200-meter prelim after qualifying with an ENMU program record time of 24.40 in her second place finish at the LSC Indoor Championships. Bustos competed in the 2018 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, running a 24.80 to place 12th overall.

The 800-meter final that Moinat will compete in is slated for a 5:35 p.m. start tomorrow at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
