LUBBOCK, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico men's and women's track & field programs traveled to Lubbock Christian for The Open on Friday.
In the field events,
Tamia Smith led the way with a first-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 41'-3.0" (12.57m).
Jessica Campbell took fourth with a distance of 34'-9.75" (10.61m).
Campbell then had a jump of 15'-6.25" (4.73m) in the long jump which was good for third place.
Teagan Mosley finished sixth in that even with a 15'-2.25" (4.63m) jump.
In the pole vault,
Ocean Paul earned second place with a 9'-6.25" (2.90m) performance, while
Paige Graham finished third (8'-11.75", 2.74m).
Campbell continued to find success as she placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.72. Mosley crossed the line in fifth place with a time of 17.74.
The Greyhounds took the top-five in the women's 1500-meter run.
Neri Getraide came in first with a time of 4:53.94.
Mercy Rotich took second (5:07.50) and
Marta Pascoa was close behind in third (5:08.15).
Aminata Kenyawani and
Kayla Sisneros rounded out the top-five with times of 5:15.02 and 5:19.36, respectively.
In the men's 1500-meter,
Jon Fuentes finished in sixth place with a time of 4:20.33.
Jaliyah Denny earned fourth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.45. On the men's side in the 100-meter,
Alex Aguirre recorded a time of 11.63, which was good for seventh place.
Dan Hurren finished fourth in the men's 800-meter run by clocking a time of 2:01.05. In the women's 800, Campbell took sixth place with a time of 2:33.34.
The relay team of
Marlou Blankvoort, Campbell, Denny, and Graham finished third in the women's 4x100 (52.75).
The Greyhounds are back in action next weekend (April 2-3) at the West Texas A&M Classic.
