WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Eastern New Mexico cross country competed at Midwestern State Saturday morning.
The 5k race for the women and 8k race for the men was a preview for next month's LSC cross country championship.
"I'm very happy with how we ran today. This was a fast course and the atmosphere was great," said head coach
Joshua Harden. "This gave us a great ook at wht the conference course will look like."
ENMU had four finishers on the women's side and three for the men.
Marta Pascoa held the best finish among all Eastern runners as she took third place in the meet crossing the finish line in 18:43.0. She was bested by fellow LSC foe, Gracey Lovato (18:33.5), from Western New Mexico and a runner from Hardin-Simmons.
Kaylyn De La Rosa finished in the top-third of racers as she completed the course in 20:45.7 to take 33
rd.
Lauren Griego took 48
th with a final time of 21:32.4 and
Elise Toya rounded out the ENMU finishers in 65
th registering a 22:40.2 race. In total, 101 runners competed.
For the men,
Ethan Woodrome held the top time for the Greyhounds as he took 60
th place in the field with a time of 29:23.7. Teammates
Ricky Diaz (30:37.6) and
Luis Holguin (32:08.9) were not far behind in the competition.
"Our team is starting to get into championship form," said Harden. "We've seen continued improvement and our group is excited about where they are at heading into our home meet."
ENMU is back in action next week as they host the Greyhound Invite on Saturday, October 15
th. The women's race will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the men will follow with a 9:15 a.m. start. The meet will be held in Clovis, N.M. at Hillcrest Park. Attendance is strongly encouraged as this is the best opportunity to see the Hounds race this season.
