PORTALES, N.M. - Eastern New Mexico men's soccer is headed to the Show-Me state for a pair of matches over Labor Day weekend. Before the team heads east on I-40, take a look at the Pitch Preview:
Â
Last Time Out – The Greyhounds battled a pair of programs in Oklahoma last week. ENMU fell to Rogers State and Oklahoma Christian, 4-2. Against the Hillcats, Eastern equalized early in the second half, but got into a larger deficit later in the match. OCU got a 4-0 lead early in the contest and ENMU's second half charge only cut the lead in half before the final buzzer.
Many Options – Four different players scored for Eastern over the week.
Matteo Azambuja, Ben Sauerländer, Sander Tønnessen, and
Colin Ulrich found the back of the net. The Greyhounds will look to use these four to establish the attack over the weekend.
Clean Half – After Saturday's starting goalkeeper went down with an injury,
Paul Waschkau played the final 59:12 of the contest against the Eagles. Over two-thirds of action, he made two saves and did not allow a single goal.Â
New Faces – This will be the first meeting between Eastern New Mexico and both GLVC foes, Missouri S&T and Southwest Baptist. The Miners were selected ninth and the Bearcats were picked twelfth in the preseason conference poll.
Â
Experience Matters – Nineteen different Greyhounds played over the first two matches. Only
Felix Drizinsky played all 180 minutes for the squad.Â
