PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Athletics is discontinuing the men's soccer program, effectively immediately.

"I want to thank all alumni, supporters, coaches, and most importantly student-athletes for their contributions to the team," said director of athletics Kevin Fite. "Now seems like the most opportune time to initiate a transition to discontinue men's soccer."

The department will still honor men's soccer student-athlete scholarships to finish their degree at Eastern New Mexico University. Those wishing to transfer and compete at another institution can do so.

ENMU Athletics will explore using its resources to add other sports to fit the needs of the state of New Mexico, this region, and potential student population.
