Student-athletes dedicate 1600+ hours of community service in fall

PORTALES, N.M. – ENMU Athletics student-athletes volunteered more than 1600 hours during the fall semester – more than halfway to the department's 2022-23 school year goal (3000 hours).

From the infamous "High-Five Friday's" to hosting a soccer camp in partnership with New Mexico United, Eastern set a high mark for community involvement.

"I'm so proud of the dedication our student-athletes and coaches have to our community," said Assistant Athletic Director Liz Acosta. "They go above and beyond of what's expected."

Other programs that the Hounds helped with include the St. Helen's Fiestas, roadside cleanups, and youth day.

Football totaled the most hours with 700. Softball (498), men's soccer (206), baseball (157.5), and women's basketball (100) are the other programs dedicating more than 100 hours over the fall.
