Lone Star Conference Announces 2023 Baseball Preseason Poll

Eastern have been picked to finish in 11th in the 2023 LSC Baseball Poll

RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference recently announced the 2023 Baseball Preseason Poll on Monday afternoon. Eastern New Mexico was picked to finish 11th with 88 points.

Regin LSC regular season and tournament champions Angelo State University received 407 total points, along with 23 first place votes to finish 1st. West Texas A&M University placed in 2nd just behind with eight first place votes and 388 points. Texas A&M University-Kingsville rounded out the top three with 315 points and one first place vote.

Lubbock Christian University landed in fourth place with 298 points, while St. Edward's University was selected to finish fifth with 315 points.

The conference also announced two preseason awards. Adam Becker of West texas A&M was selected as the Preseason Pitcher of the Year, while St. Edward's Wesley Gafford was named Preseason Player of the Year. 

ENMU will look to build off a historic 2022 season, where Head Coach Riley Price led the Greyhounds to the most conference wins in a single season in program history (17-31, 16-30 in LSC play).

In 2023, Eastern has 50 contests on the schedule, 48 of which are LSC contests and two non-conference games. Fans will have the opportunity to see Eastern play at Greyhound Baseball Field over six different weekends throughout the season.

The Hounds begin the 2023 season at Angelo State University, February 3-5. Eastern's first home games of the season will be Feb. 10-12 with Texas A&M International facing off against the Greyhounds.
