Pitch Preview - MSOC: Texas A&M International and Oklahoma Christian

The Greyhounds play their final away match, then return home Saturday night.

PORTALES, N.M. – With just three games remaining in the regular season, Eastern New Mexico Men's Soccer play their final road game of the season against Texas A&M International on Wednesday, Oct. 25, with kickoff slated for 6 p.m. (MST). Then, the Greyhounds come back home on Saturday, Oct. 28, to face Oklahoma Christian at 7 p.m.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS

  • The Greyhounds saw their four-match unbeaten run end in its last match, falling to #2 Midwestern State 1-0. Currently, ENMU is 4-6-4 this season with a 2-2-2 conference record. As things stand, ENMU is 3rd in the conference standings with eight points (the top six teams make the postseason tournament).
  • As a unit, Eastern has potted 20 goals this season and recorded 14 assists. The team averages 10.5 shots per game, while 46.3% of its shots end up on goal. Defensively, the Hounds 49 saves is third in the conference, while 3.50 saves per game is also third in the LSC.
  • Nick Huenig leads the Greyhounds scoring effort with five goals this season, with Ignacio Lopez, and Giani Mascarel both providing three goals. Felix Drizinsky's five assists is 5th in the LSC. Paul Waschkau is among the best in the conference for saves per game (3.40 saves per game, 2nd in LSC), making 34 saves this season.

SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS

  • After winning its last two games in a row, TAMIU holds a 6-5-3 record with a 2-3-1 standing in conference play. Texas A&M International and Eastern will face each other for the second time this season, with both teams playing out a 1-1 draw in late September.
  • The Dustdevils possess one of the top offenses in the nation, scoring 2.79 goals per game (9th in DII, 2nd in LSC). TAMIU are the top assisting team in the conference with 39 total helpers on the season (3rd in the nation, 2.79 assists per game). On defense, Texas A&M International have 45 saves and 3.21 saves per game (both 5th in the LSC).
  • TAMIU are led by several standout forwards, with Johan Portales nine goals and seven assists landing second in the conference for goals, assists, and points (25). Lassana Diakite (nine goals and two assists) and Jordan Mase (eight goals and five assists) help the Dustdevils frontline. Gal Grodetzki posts 42 saves in net this season, with 3.00 saves per game being third in the LSC.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES

  • Before facing the Greyhounds on Saturday, the Eagles will battle West Texas A&M on Wednesday evening. The Eagles come off a 1-1 draw with Lubbock Christian and sport a 3-6-6 record and 2-2-2 standing in LSC action.
  • The Eagles average just under 12 shots per game, finding the back of the net 17 times this season. Along with the 17 goals, OC has 13 assists with 81 shots on goal this season (5.40 SOG per game). On the other side of the ball, the Eagles have only allowed 22 goals with the teams 1.47 goals allowed per game being 5th in the LSC.
  • Ellis Jones paces the team with a program high five goals, while Alvar Silva and Lawson Ford both have a pair of goals. Elliott Forestier paces the group with four assists and leads the team with 23 shots. In goal, Fynn Koerner is among the conference best for goals against average (1.37, 4th in LSC), saves per game (2.57, 5th in LSC), and shutouts (3, 4th in LSC).
