PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Men's Soccer kicks off conference action with a pair of intriguing matchups this week. First, the Greyhounds head to West Texas A&M to face the Buffs on Wednesday, Oct. 4, starting at 6 p.m. (MST). Then, the Hounds welcome #16 St. Mary's to Portales on Saturday, Oct. 7, with the match set to begin at 7 p.m. from Greyhound Stadium.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
- The Greyhounds concluded non-conference play with a 2-4-2 record. Last week, ENMU faced a tough St. Mary's team on the road, falling 3-0 in San Antonio.
- This season the Greyhounds have scored 11 times, averaging 11.4 shots per game. For shots on goal, 45.1% of the Greyhounds shots are finding the target. Defensively, Eastern have conceded 16 goals in eight matches with 23 saves this season. As a team, the Greyhounds are 5th in the conference for total saves and saves per game (2.88 saves per game).
- In their first season with ENMU, Ignacio Lopez leads the group with three goals and a pair of assists. Aside from Lopez, Giani Mascarel has three goals, with Felix Drizinsky adding a pair of goals and an assist. In net, the Greyhounds have had three different keepers in net this season. Hugo Sacco leads the team with 11 saves this season in three matches, posting one shutout.
SCOUTING THE BUFFALOES
- West Texas A&M completed their non-conference portion of the season with a 3-3-2 record, recently producing a 1-1 result with St. Edward's in their last match.
- Coming into Wednesday's match, the Buffs are posting 1.38 goals per game (11 goals this season) with 13.6 shots per game. WT are 4th in the conference for assists with 12, while the team's seven goals allowed being 3rd best in the conference.
- The Buffs have had nine different goal scorers this season, with Leaton Hartman and Gabriel Nevarez' two goals each leading the team. Hartman, Nevarez, Matteo Landais, Venancio Calderon, and Dylan Watson each have two assists this season. Asaf Kristal has played in each match for the Buffs in net, holding a .90 goals against average with 13 saves on the season and a pair of shutouts.
SCOUTING THE #16 RATTLERS
- The Greyhounds are familiar with the Rattlers, having played each other on Sept. 27, with St. Mary's coming away with a 3-0 home win. Based on the most recent Untied Soccer Coaches Poll, St. Mary's garner a ranking of 16th with a record of 6-2-1.
- The Rattlers continue as one of the best defenses in the Lone Star Conference, ranking in the top five for goals allowed (7, 0.78 goals allowed per game), saves (36, 4.00 saves per game), and shutouts (4, 2nd best in the LSC). On offense, St.MU has scored 15 goals this season, averaging 10.7 shots per game.
- The Rattlers recently swept the LSC Men's Soccer Players of the Week: Alexander Carey (Offensive Player of the Week), Bradley Greene (Defensive Player of the Week), and Andre Schalefli (Goalkeeper of the Week) all were recognized. Cian Foley has five goals this season (three from open play, two penalties), along with a pair of assists. Carey has four goals and Gael Gallegos has two goals this season. Schlaefli has played have of the nine matches in net this season, holding a 3-2-0 record with 18 saves and 1.00 goals against average.
