Texas - Freshman sprinter Grizell Scarlett is the Lone Star Conference woman track athlete of the week.
"I am truly honored to be named the conference athlete of the week. I want to thank my teammates, coaches, and everyone who has supported me on this ongoing journey," said Scarlett on the news. "This recognition means a lot to me, and I'm excited to continue giving my best on and off the track."
Scarlett won the 60-meters at the J.D. Martin Invitational at Mosier Indoor Facility in Norman, Okla. with an Eastern New Mexico record 7.46. Her time is a NCAA Division II provisional mark and a top-10 result in the country. She topped five University of Oklahoma athletes in the finals, winning by 0.05 seconds.
