SAN ANGELO, TEXAS – Following the conclusion of the 2023 Lone Star Conference Baseball Banquet,
Jonatan Clough and
Demetrio Archuleta have both been recognized as LSC All-Conference selections, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday evening. Clough landed on the All-LSC Second Team, while Archuleta garnered third team honors. This is the first all-conference nod for both Clough and Archuleta.
Clough finished his first collegiate season as one of the top power hitters in the conference. The first-year outfielder garnered 18 home runs, leading the conference, with a .762 slugging percentage, 2
nd in the LSC, 69 RBIs, 2
nd most in the LSC, and 134 total bases, landing fourth in the conference. Additionally, Clough provided a .348 batting average, 63 hits, and 25 walks. The La Romana, Dominican Republic native broke the ENMU single season record for home runs, slugging percentage, total bases, and was second for a single season for RBIs. Clough complied 50 games played during the season, recording multi-RBIs in 17 different contests, leading the team.
Meanwhile, Archuleta proved to be the Hounds top hitter this season with a team leading .371 batting average and a team best 65 hits. The sophomore accounted for 50 runs scored this season, a team high, while leading the team with 12 doubles, and adding 43 RBIs. Archuleta finished the season with a 19-game active streak of reaching base, the longest streak by an ENMU player this season. In the field, the Farmington, N.M. native was sure handed at second base, providing a team best 122 fielding assists, while helping turn a team high 23 double plays. Archuleta's 122 assists are second in the LSC.Â
ENMU concluded the season with a trip to the LSC Postseason Tournament opening round. With a mark of 23-28, the Greyhounds achieved their highest win total in the
Riley Price era, along with securing a program high 21 wins in LSC play. Clough and Archuleta become the second and third players to receive all-conference recognition in the tenure of Coach Price.
