RICHARDSON, Texas — Eastern New Mexico women's soccer claimed two Lone Star Conference (LSC) player of the week honors, following an undefeated weekend.
Sofia Trejo was named LSC Defensive Player of the Week, and
Samantha Jeffries was named LSC Goalkeeper of the Week. Jeffries and Trejo are the first women's soccer student-athletes to receive a weekly honor this season, with both earning the honor for the first time in their career.
Trejo helped anchor an ENMU defense that conceded just one goal over the weekend, during a pair of draws. Trejo played in all 180 minutes over the two games, help ENMU earn a scoreless 0-0 tie on the road at Adams State, and hold a 1-1 stalemate with Fort Lewis College at a neutral site. Meanwhile, Jeffries earned their first shutout of the season in net after a four save performance against Adams State. Against Fort Lewis, Jeffries faced 12 shots in the match making three saves during the contest. After Thursday's shutout, Jeffries moved into second place for career shutouts in program history with eight.
Eastern will play its first home game of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 6 against New Mexico Highlands, beginning at 6 p.m. Then, the Greyhounds will travel to Kearney, Nebraska for a pair of neutral site games against Drury (9/8) and Quincy (9/10). Both games will commence at 10 a.m. (MST).
