Pitch Preview - MSOC: Westminster (Utah) and Colorado Mesa

ENMU head back to Colorado for another pair of tilts against RMAC opposition

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Men's Soccer returns to the Centennial State to continue its season. Eastern face Westminster (Ut.) University to start the weekend on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 4 p.m., with the game hosted in Grand Junction, Colo. Following the clash with the Griffins, ENMU will face the hosts Colorado Mesa on Saturday, Sept. 9 with a 7 p.m. kickoff.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS

  • ENMU began the season with a win and a loss during their time in Colorado last weekend, beating Adams State, 4-1, and falling to Fort Lewis, 3-1. Giani Mascarel got ENMU off the mark with two goals in the win over Adams State, while Felix Drizinsky added a goal and a assist.
  • The French forward Mascarel leads ENMU this season with a pair of goals, while Mathieu Beuvain, Matteo Azambuja, and Drizinsky have also hit the back of the net. So far, Ignacio Lopez has a team best seven shots, while Beuvain has four shots on goal. In net, Paul Waschkau has four saves on the season facing 18 shots overall.
  • As a team, the Greyhounds are averaging 10.5 shots per game with half of the team's shots going on goal. The team's five goals have been created with three assists.

SCOUTING WESTMINSTER (UT)

  • The Griffins enter the weekend following a 1-1 home weekend against a pair of Lone Star Conference opponents. First, Westminster was handed a 3-0 defeat at the hands of #18 Midwestern State. Then, the Griffins bounced back with a 1-0 win over Texas A&M International.
  • Armin Hasanovic scored the game winning goal over the Dustdevils in the 83rd minute and is the team's leader in goals and points. Brennan Neeley, Ole Songe, Jace Vance, and Landon Ward each played 180 minutes this season, emerging as crucial members to the Griffin's squad. In net, Noah Larkin and Roark Looney each played 90 minutes, with Larkin responsible for the win over TAMIU.
  • Westminster struggled against Midwestern State, firing just one shot, while the Griffins hammered Texas A&M International with 14 shots and five shots on net. In total, Westminster is providing 7.5 shots per game with 40.0% shot on goal to shot percentage.

SCOUTING COLORADO MESA

  • The Mavervicks also enter the season at 1-1, following a season opening 3-2 victory over Texas A&M International, and 1-0 defeat to #18 Midwestern State. In the win over the Dustdevils, CMU pocketed three goals in the 55 minutes, while fending off a late comeback after two late goals from TAMIU.
  • Three different names lead the Mavericks offense: Manuel Ponce Cases, Dimitrios Leonoglou, and Moises Martinez each scoring once. Ponce Casas also has an assist on the season, totaling three points. Diego Chavez holds down the gloves after the first two games, playing 180 minutes across both contests with six saves.
  • Colorado Mesa is finding 7.5 shots per game, with a total of five shots on goal this season. The team hasn't committed a single foul so far this season, while forcing six corner kicks and 0.333 shots on goal percentage.
