Eric Belcher relieved from duties as women's soccer head coach

ENMU Athletics will begin search for new head coach, Nona Borden to take over as interim head coach

PORTALES, N.M. – Eric Belcher has been relieved of his duties as head coach for Eastern New Mexico University women's soccer effective immediately.

"We appreciate Eric's commitment to the Greyhound women's soccer program over the last three seasons," said director of athletics Kevin Fite. "I felt like it was in the best interest of the program to pursue new leadership."

Belcher finishes his time at ENMU with an 8-30-8 record. He has coached ten College Sports Communicators academic all-district honorees. In his time with the Greyhounds, goalkeeper Samantha Jeffries was recognized to the all-LSC academic team twice.

ENMU women's soccer currently holds a 2-8-1 record in 2024. There are six games remaining.

Assistant coach Nona Borden will take over interim head coaching duties for the remainder of the 2024 season. Volunteer assistant coach Rachael Knipe will help Borden.

"I am confident that Nona and Rachael can lead the team through the final games of the season and put us in the best position for the 2025 season," said Fite.

A search for the next head coach for women's soccer at ENMU will begin immediately with anticipation for a new coach to be named by January 2025.
