RICHARDSON, Texas — For the third time this season, an Eastern New Mexico Men's Soccer student-athlete has been recognized as the Lone Star Conference (LSC) Defender of the Week, with
Rodrigo Velasco earning the honor to the first time, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. The Greyhound midfielder joins
Kris McDonald (9/10) and
Pablo Nodar (10/1) to win the weekly honor.
The Palma, Spain native played 180 minutes over a pair of shutouts for the Greyhounds against Oklahoma Christian (1-0) and UT Tyler (0-0). Both shutouts are the first back-to-back conference clean sheets since 2016. Velasco added an assist in the win over Oklahoma Christian, helping the Greyhounds beat the Eagles for the first time since 2018.
