The Greyhounds travel to Austin to battle St. Edward's

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Men's Soccer take their first conference road trip of the season, heading to the Texas state capital to battle St. Edward's on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 12 p.m. (MST)/ 1 p.m. (CST) at Lewis-Chen Family Field.

SERIES INSIGHT

  • Both teams will meet for the 16th time overall, with the Hilltoppers owning a 9-3-3 advantage over Eastern.
  • Last year the teams played each other for the first time since 2019, as the Greyhounds came away with a 3-1 victory. Nick Huenig, Loris Tsiatsipy, and Alexandre Meres all scored in the victory.
  • Eastern heads to Austin, Texas for the first time since 2019, where the Hilltoppers ran away with a 6-0 victory over the Greyhounds. ENMU is yet to find a win over St. Edward's when playing in Austin.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS

  • ENMU played their first conference match of the season this past weekend, falling to St. Mary's 1-0. Overall, the Greyhounds stand at 2-3-3 on the season, with a 0-1 record in conference.
  • The Greyhounds have scored nine times in their opening eight matches, with four different student-athletes scoring twice. Huenig, Arthur Macri, Pablo Nodar, and Ben Sauerländer each have found the back of the net twice. Sauerländer is also the joint leader for assists with two, leading the team with six points this season. Huenig has a team best for shots with 14.
  • Catalin Nastuta and Milo Paci have each played four games for the Greyhounds in net. Paci played the conference opener, allowing five goals this season with a 0.722 save percentage, and one shutout. Nastuta has made 14 saves in his four games, while allowing 1.75 goals per game.
  • As a team, the Greyhounds are averaging 6.9 shots per game shots per contest. Eastern are responsible for 91 fouls, while drawing 16 yellow cards.

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS

  • St. Edward's are unbeaten following their first two conference game of the season, shocking #12 Midwestern State with a 5-0 victory, then a 2-2 road draw with Lubbock Christian. To this point of the season, SEU have a 3-3-2 standing and a 1-0-1 LSC record.
  • Arthur Souza is in good form for the Hilltoppers, scoring three times over the last two games to earn LSC Offensive Player of the Week. Souza leads the program with six goals, along with points (12), shots (21), and shots on goal (14). Christian Mezas provides two goals and a team high three assists. Shunji Watanabe and Emiliano Abboud each have scored twice for St. Edward's.
