PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Baseball returns to New Mexico for a four-game series with the Buffs of #5 West Texas A&M this weekend. The series begins with a single nine-inning game on Friday, Mar. 1, with the first pitch set for 4 p.m. The next day the teams have a doubleheader, on Saturday, Mar. 2, with the games beginning at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. The series ends on Sunday, Mar. 3, beginning at 1 p.m.

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDSÂ
After taking the first two games of their last series, the Greyhounds dropped the final two games of last weekend to settle for a 2-2 split with St. Edward's. Eastern opened the series with a 8-3 win, thanks to the complete pitching game performance of
Gavin Perry. In game two,
Cooper Hamilton sported three RBIs in a comeback, 7-6, victory over the Hilltoppers. During the final two games, St. Edward's blanked ENMU, 5-0, and provided a big comeback in a 9-8 victory.
ENMU hitters have a .273 batting average, scoring 96 runs with 132 hits and 82 RBIs. Eastern's hitters have drawn 67 walks, with 40 extra base hits this season. On the rubber, Eastern New Mexico's ERA sits 6.88 following the opening month series. Allowing 138 hits and 109 runs. The Greyhounds pitchers have drawn 99 strikeouts, while holding opponents to a .284 batting average.
Willie Ponce paces the Greyhounds for batting average (.364), hits (20) and runs scored (21), while sitting 3
rd for RBIs (11).
Demetrio Archuleta and
Luciano Terilli each have 17 hits behind Ponce, while
Beau Preston has a team best 14 RBIs. After back-to-back wins, Perry leads the Hounds with a 2-2-2-2 record and a 3.80 ERA. Five other pitchers have a win this season for ENMU, while Terilli has a win and a save in just 3.1 innings pitched this season and one hit allowed.
Ruger Bravo has had a solid start the season with a 1-1 record and a 4.70 ERA.
SCOUTING THE #5 BUFFALOES
The Buffaloes come into the weekend as the hottest team in the LSC, sporting a record of 11-3 and 10-2 LSC record. After four weeks of the season, West Texas A&M has gone from unranked to the #5 team in the country, based on the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Poll. WT split a non-conference series with Drury last weekend, winning 19-11 and falling 14-6. Before that, the Buffs took three games from St. Edward's.
The Buffaloes have a .319 batting average (3
rd in LSC) so far this season, picking up 142 hits with 88 RBIs, scoring 105 runs. West Texas A&M has drawn 59 walks, while scattering 41 extra base hits. The WT pitching sports a 4.66 ERA (3
rd in LSC) during its opening three conference series and one non-conference doubleheader. The team has produced 129 strikeouts (3
rd in LSC), while giving up 116 hits and 79 runs.
Ryan Camacho is the early hit leader for West Texas A&M, grabbing 20 hits and scoring nine times. Rodric Black and Kyle Fesperman provide the runs for the Buffs, with 14 RBIs and 12 RBIs, respectively.
