PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico Baseball heads to south Texas for its first road trip of the season, traveling to Laredo, Texas to face Texas A&M International. The series begins on Friday, Feb. 9, with a nine-inning contest beginning at 1 p.m. (MST). The next day, ENMU and TAMIU play a pair of seven inning games, beginning at 11 a.m. (MST) and 2 p.m. (MST). The getaway game takes place on Sunday, Feb. 11, with the first pitch slated for 12 p.m. (MST).

SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
The Greyhounds enter the weekend after a 2-2 split with #1 Angelo State to start the season. ENMU picked up game two of the series in walk-off fashion (4-3), as
Beau Preston drove in the game tying run with a two-out triple, then scored the winning run on a wild pitch. Then, Eastern took game three of the series 12-9, as
Daniel Pruitt finished 3-4 at the plate with four RBIs.
After facing the top-ranked Rams, ENMU holds a .269 batting average scoring 19 runs from 32 hits. Eastern posted 16 RBIs in the opening weekend, while drawing 10 walks. On the mound, the Greyhounds have a 6.47 ERA allowing just 25 runs from 31 hits.
Willie Ponce sports a .500 batting average after the opening weekend, compiling six hits and scoring five runs. Pruitt accounted for five RBIs, while Preston registered five extra base hits so far this season. On the mound,
Gavin Perry leads the Hounds with six strikeouts after their first start of the season.
Julian Lopez and
Luciano Terilli have each picked up wins from the bullpen, while
Josaiah Estrella earned a save in the Greyhounds 12-9 win.
SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS
The Dustdevils had a tough start to the opening weekend, falling to West Texas A&M in four straight games, and dropping their last outing to Texas A&M-Kingsville, 14-5. During the series with the Buffs, TAMIU lost the series opener, 14-10, while losing the doubleheader, 17-5 and 8-4. The series finale was the closest game between the two teams, as WT scrapped a 5-4 walk-off win.
Texas A&M International have a .275 batting average after their opening five games, scoring 28 runs on 44 hits with 26 RBIs. The Dustdevils have drawn 17 walks while recording 15 extra base hits. On the mound, the Dustdevils lead the conference in strikeouts (42), while posing a 12.03 ERA. The pitching staff for Texas A&M International has given up 58 runs on 62 hits, with an opposing batting average of .383.
Joseph Cruz is off to a flying start to the season, with 10 hits, 7 RBIs, and .556 batting average leading the team. Abiam Medina has seven walks snf ive hits for the Dustdevils in the batter's box, while Ariben Gutierrez and Omar Cervantes also have five hits each. On the mound, Cody Templeton was fantastic in their first start of the season, throwing 7.0 innings of three run ball in a no-decision. Isaac Ponce also had a solid outing in their first start of the season, holding a 2.25 ERA after four innings pitched with one run allowed.
