RICHARDSON, Texas – After winning the javelin at the John Jacobs Invitational,
Alex Williams is the Lone Star Conference male field athlete of the week.
"It's an amazing feeling," said Williams when asked about the honor. "The past few weeks I did some really hard work and I am grateful to God for allowing me to achieve this accomplishment."
His 66.90m (219-6) throw is more than two feet further than his previous personal record and marked the third time he has reset the school record in his time in Portales.
Williams ranks eighth in NCAA DII with his throw and second among student-athletes in the south central region. He will need to place in the top-16 by the middle of May to earn a bid to compete at the national championships in Emporia, Kansas.
