PORTALES, N.M. – College Sports Communicators has named
Tamia Smith a 2024 Academic All-District® honoree. Smith recently completed her collegiate career where she spent five years with the women's track and field program.
"I am grateful to be named to the Academic All-District Team," said Smith on the recognition. "Thank you to all my coaches, teammates, and supporters at ENMU."
The Texas native holds the school record in indoor and outdoor shot put. Her best mark indoor came during the 2024 New Mexico Team Open where she threw 14.07m. Her record-breaking toss during the outdoor season came at the 2024 Don Kirby Tailwind Open with a 14.30m mark.
Smith is Eastern New Mexico's first honoree in the program since 2018 when Ezra Bagwell and Danee Bustos were named academic all-district team members.

Joshua Harden. "She is a great representation of our program and her commitment to athletics and academics is amazing."
The throws specialist earned her bachelor's in criminal justice in 2023 and is currently pursuing a master's in counseling.
