Sinclair Pitts joins track and field program as an assistant coach

ENMU welcomes new throws coach for Greyhound track and field

PORTALES, N.M. - Sinclair Pitts joins Eastern New Mexico University as assistant coach for the track and field program. The Magnolia, Arkansas native comes to Portales after five seasons coaching at Southern Arkansas University where he also competed for four years.

"I am ready to join the Greyhounds," said Pitts when asked about the new role. "Thank you to head coach Joshua Harden for giving me this opportunity to continue to grow the track and field program."

Pitts will work directly with the throws and multis groups at ENMU.

In his five years on staff, Pitts coached 48 all-conference honorees and helped the program earn seven Great American Conference championships top-three team finishes.

From 2022-24 he was an assistant coach for the program and from 2020-21 he served as a student assistant coach.

He mentored several conference champions over his tenure and guided one student-athlete to qualify for the 2024 NCAA DII outdoor championships in discus.

Pitts is one of the most decorated student-athletes at SAU. He won the conference championship in shot put in 2019. He also holds six conference runner-up finishes – hammer (2017, 2018, 2019), discus (2018, 2019), and shot put (2018).

The newest Greyhound coach holds a bachelor's in university studies from Southern Arkansas.
