PORTALES, N.M. – The 2024 Eastern New Mexico University cross country season is officially here. Before the Greyhounds head to Lawton, Okla., please read the Five Mile Preview:
Mile One – Setting The Pace: The Aggie Duels begin September 6
th with a 5k for the women at 8 a.m. CT/7 a.m. MT. The men will follow with an 8k race beginning at 8:25 a.m. CT/7:25 a.m. MT. The event is held at the Big Green Soccer Complex. Timing the event is provided by 12:1 Running Timing Services. The link to results will be added to this website.
Mile Two – Returning Hounds: Two ENMU runners are back from the 2023 squad.
Ethan Woodrome will compete in his third season for the green and silver, while
Emmanuel Hernandez is in his second. Woodrome is the only returner expected to run in the Aggie Duels. Woodrome's best 8k time in his career is 29:16. He completed that race at Angelo State in 2022.
Mile Three – Men's Newcomers: Four Greyhounds will be running for the first time Friday.
Bryan Hernandez,
Justin Sauceda,
Jackson Gable, and
Aaron Marin-Plascencia are competing in their first collegiate race. Marin-Plascencia is from Vado, N.M. while the other three runners come from the Lone Star State. Hernandez and Sauceda were named runners to watch by the Lone Star Conference.
Mile Four – Female Newcomers: ENMU women's cross country does not have a returner on its roster. Three members of the team are expected to compete Friday –
Elizabeth Lujan-Towles,
Sanne Janssen, and Valentina Rocabado will run in the 5k event. Lujan-Towles is one of two Greyhounds to earn runner to watch recognition from the Lone Star Conference. Both Lujan-Towles and Rocabado are freshmen while Janssen is a senior.
Mile Five – Greyhound Promotion: Assistant coach
Keyanah Browning directs the cross country program after being promoted this summer from graduate assistant to assistant cross country and track & field coach. Browning is originally from Houston, Texas and is familiar with the Aggie Duels meet. She competed for Cameron as an undergrad where she was a member with the cross country and track & field teams.
