FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Eastern New Mexico men's track and field posted some strong finishes at the 2025 Friday Night Axe 'Em Open hosted by Northern Arizona University.
"All of our kids are competitive," said head coach
Joshua Harden after the meet. "It's good to see us compete in everything and be represented in almost every event that's on the track. We still have work to do and some events we need to work to develop."
Most notably, freshman
Strahinja Radakovic broke his own school record to advance to the finals of the 60m hurdles and followed that performance with an even better time and an NCAA DII provisional mark, which puts the Hound in the top ten among all DII competitors in the event.
Radakovic finished fourth in a field of 25 runners. In the finals, he bested three DI sprinters and a runner from a track club boasting nationally ranked competitors. The first-year Hound is off to an excellent start to his collegiate career as he becomes the second ENMU student-athlete to hit a provisional mark this season.
Two other Hounds had personal best marks in the 60m hurdles.
Hemon Joseph (8.42s) and
Jonathon Pipes (8.67s) had excellent runs in the event.
Eastern New Mexico had some strong times in the 400m as
Kyler Joe (48.98s) and
Elijah Davis (50.08s) both posted personal best results. Joe finished third in the competition and now sits in the top 40 among DII student-athletes. Joe also ran well in the 200m as he completed the event in 22.10s to take ninth in the field of 57 runners.
In throws,
Kooper Ellis has gone back-to-back meets with personal bests in the weight throw. Ellis finished today with a 14.27m (46-10) mark. Junior
Noe Ybaben Burciaga had an indoor best mark in the shot put as he threw 13.98m (45-10.5).
