COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Eastern New Mexico women's track and field was well represented at the UCCS Invite this weekend.
One of the highlights of the weekend came from
Genesis Carter who made the triple jump finals after leaping 10.69m. She improved her mark on her fifth jump of the day by going 10.81m (35-5.75) to finish eighth overall. Carter also led ENMU in the long jump as she posted a 4.90m (16-1) mark.
Two Hounds competed in the weight throw. First year Greyhound,
Leslie Jaquez had the best mark with a 13.00m (42-8) toss.
ENMU's busiest event of the meet was the 60m as seven different Hounds took to the track for the short sprint.
Ambrosia Francis had Eastern's best time of the day with a 8.14s finish.
Freshmen
Meredith Brown (8.16s) and
Jerriana McWilliams (8.19s) also competed well in the event. McWilliams' time is a new personal best.
Two Hounds participated in the 200m with
Kayla Salazar's 28.39s time leading the way among the duo competing in the event.
Korah Ives was the only Greyhound to run the 60m hurdles. She finished the race in 9.87s.
Eastern New Mexico women's track and field will now prepare for the Stan Scott Invite in Lubbock, Texas. The competition will begin Friday evening and continue into Saturday.
