COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A group of student-athletes from Eastern New Mexico men's track and field competed at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs in a meet this weekend.
The Hounds were well represented in the 60m as six different sprinters competed in the event.
Steve Taylor II highlighted the day for ENMU with a 7.05s in the preliminaries to qualify for the finals. The Greyhound senior followed that performance by placing seventh after clocking a 7.0s time.
Six Greyhounds competed in the 200m. Two Hounds finished in the top eight among the field of 33 runners. Those included
Omarion Scott (23.24s) and
Juan Diego Duran (23.62s). Three others ran in the 400m. Duran led the way for ENMU with a 52.09s time to finish in 12th.
Alec Forney (2:07.87) was the only Greyhound to compete in the 800m. Four other ENMU runners participated in the mile. The top time for ENMU in the long distance event was from freshman
Jackson Gable who crossed the line in 4:54.64. Eastern New Mexico was also represented in the 3000m, 5000m, and 4x400 races.
Freshman
William Mclilly now ranks in the top eight among jumpers in the Lone Star Conference in the high jump. He posted a clearance of 1.84m (6-0.5) on his third and final attempt at the height.
Three Greyhounds competed in the long jump. The best finisher for ENMU was
Oscar Martinez marking a 6.34m (20-9.75) jump.
Freshman
Ricardo Neira was the only thrower for ENMU men's track and field in the meet. Neira earned a personal best throw in the shot put going 12.51m (41-0.5).
Eastern New Mexico will now look forward to a meet in Lubbock, Texas next weekend.
