PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico men's and women's track and field are headed to the Stan Scott Invitational hosted by Texas Tech Friday and Saturday. The two-day meet will feature 14 entries for ENMU. Before the first event begins, please take a look at the 4x4 Preview:
1x4: Action in the 505: Last week, the program split between two different meets. ENMU saw several successes in Albuquerque at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational. The Greyhounds got off to an excellent start at the meet as
Minerva Cerda Hernandez set the school record in the pole vault clearing 3.37m (11-0.75). She now holds the fourth best mark among conference competitors this season.
Helena Carboo-Klutsey clocked a 25.34s finish at the meet and is now the 4th fastest in the league.
Kyler Joe is among the top 12 in the LSC in two different races after improving his season times at the Albuquerque meet. Joe completed the 200m in 22.18s and sits in 12th in the league. He followed that with a 48.88s time in the 400m and now sits in 9th among conference runners.
Jonathon Pipes improved his conference ranking with an 8.70s finish in the 60m hurdles. He now sits 13th in the LSC. Noe Ybaben-Burciaga improved his weight throw with a 14.15m (46-5.25) throw. He is now 11th in both the shot put and weight throw among LSC throwers.
2x4: Busy In Colorado: Eastern New Mexico men's and women's track and field proved to be a great steppingstone for some Greyhound student-athletes. Several freshmen were among the group to move up on the Lone Star Conference indoor performance list.
Bryan Hernandez ranks ninth in the LSC after altitude conversion puts his 5000m time to a 16:38.13.
William Mclilly now ranks eighth in the conference after clearing 1.84m (6-0.5) in high jump.
Genesis Carter moved into the top eight in the triple jump as she went 10.81m (35-5.75).
3x4: On The Track: All, but three entries will take place on the track for Eastern New Mexico. The Hounds will be represented in the 60m, 60m hurdles, 200m, and 400m races this weekend. Stahinja Radakovic and
Braden Mounyo will both run the 60m hurdles.
Jodian Stewart and
Riley Midgett will race in the 60m dash.
Gabriela Elizalde,
Riley Midgett, and
Journie Alexander will all run in the 200m. Lastly,
Jamoi Jackson and
Byron Pruitt will run the 400m with
Timothy Frederick running unattached in the event. Several top DI programs like Ohio State, Arizona, San Jose State, Boise State, and Louisiana Tech will be at the Stan Scott Invite this weekend. ENMU will also have a chance to see a handful of teams from the Lone Star Conference like Angelo State, West Texas A&M, Lubbock Christian, and UT Tyler.
4x4: Rounding Out The Field: Three Greyhounds will be competing in field events at the Texas Tech meet.
Jha'Niah Johnson will throw the weight throw Friday afternoon. Her personal best of 14.90m (48-10.75) came at the Friday Night Axe 'Em Open hosted by Northern Arizona three weeks ago. Johnson's throw ranks sixth among competitors in the LSC.
William Mclilly will compete in the high jump Saturday afternoon. Last week he cleared 1.84m (6-0.5) at the UCCS Invite. His personal record in the event is 1.88m which he accomplished last year in his senior season at the high school level. Lastly,
Kennedy Ulmer will compete in the shot put Saturday. Her season best toss is 12.83m (42-1.25) and the result came at the meet hosted by Northern Arizona. Ulmer is sixth in the conference in the event. If she matches her outdoor personal record of 13.03m, Ulmer will move to fifth in the LSC rankings. Both Friday and Saturday competitions will be covered on ESPN+.
