PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico track and field begins the 2025 portion of the indoor season with a meet in the Grand Canyon state. Before the Hounds compete in Flagstaff, Ariz. on the campus of Northern Arizona, please take a look at the 4x4 Preview:
1x4 – School Records Shattered: Both the 60m hurdle school records were broken last time the Greyhounds competed. At the Crimson and Gold Invitational in Pittsburg, Kan., freshman
Strahinja Radakovic set a new school record with a 8.20s mark. He was joined by teammates
Braden Mounyo (8.61s) and
Jonathon Pipes (8.78s) in the race. The women's program saw
Devyn Ericksen break the school record in the 60m hurdles after clocking in at 9.48s. Both Hounds were racing in their first collegiate events ever.
2x4 – Strong Start: Seven Greyhounds hit personal records at the last meet in Kansas. First year Greyhound
Byron Pruitt ran the 400m in 50.85s. Two returning members of the men's squad also had personal bests. Those student-athletes are
John Magee running 7.18s in the 60m and
Kooper Ellis throwing 12.60m in the weight throw. For the women,
Minerva Cerda Hernandez finished the 400m race in 58.48s. Two ENMU student-athletes finished with top marks in the 60m dash. Those runners were
Gabriela Elizalde (7.83s) and
Riley Midgett (7.88s). Ericksen's school record mark is also a personal best time.
3x4 – Men's Outlook: The men's program will have 61 entries at the Friday Night Axe 'Em Open. The largest number of entries for an event is the 200m where 12 Hounds will take to the track. ENMU does have four entries in the 4x400 giving the program an opportunity to solidify who will run in the event come conference championship time next month. Four different student-athletes will compete in throwing events for Eastern.
Noe Ybaben Burciaga and
Ricardo Neira will both compete in the shot put and weight throw. The meet will be an excellent opportunity for multis specialist
Hemon Joseph to compete in a variety of events (60m hurdles, 4x400, high jump, pole vault, and shot put). ENMU will also have multiple entries in four different jumping events (high jump, pole vault, long jump, triple jump) at the meet.
4x4 – For the Women: Eastern New Mexico women's track and field will have 53 entries at this week's meet. A dozen student-athletes will compete in both the 60m and 200m for ENMU. The Hounds are going to be represented by six different players in the long jump. Eight different student-athletes will be competing in throws for the team.
Kennedy Ulmer and
Olivia Lucero and the only ones throwing in both the shot put and weight throw. The Greyhounds will run two sets of teams in the 4x400.
