4x4 Preview: Washburn Alumni Invitational

Eastern New Mexico indoor track and field opens season in Kansas

PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico track and field season is upon us. The Greyhounds will open the 2025-26 indoor season with a meet hosted by Washburn. Before the single day of competition, please read the 4x4 Preview:

1x4 – Top Returners: Eastern New Mexico returns eight men and six women who scored points during the 2025 Lone Star Conference indoor track and field championships. Those from the men include Kyler Joe (4x400), Alec Forney (4x400), Brian Norton (4x400), Nicolo Salaris (4x400), Thomas Aerdts (800m), Strahinja Radakovic (60m hurdles), Wiliam McLilly (high jump), and Hemon Joseph (long jump, heptathlon). The women who scored at last year's conference meet are Minerva Cerda Hernandez (pole vault, 4x400), Gabriela Elizalde (4x400), Meghan Rodriguez (4x400), Celina Thomas (long jump), Kennedy Ulmer (shot put), and Devyn Ericksen (60m hurdles).

2x4 – LSC Athletes to Watch: The Lone Star Conference announced four Greyhounds as athletes to watch for the 2025-26 indoor season. Kyler Joe and Angelo Bowser represented the men for ENMU. Joe is in his second season at Eastern and competes in short sprint events. Bowser will jump for the Greyhounds this season and holds a personal best long jump of 7.05m (23-1.75) and triple jump of 14.77m (48-5.5). The women's list includes Devyn Ericksen who is a second year hurdler for the Hounds. She is joined by first year ENMU student-athlete SeiOriana Glass who will compete in throws for the program. Glass has a 15.61m (51-2.75) personal record in the weight throw.

3x4 – Newcomers to Know: Andre Smikle will be competing for the first time as a Greyhound in throws events. He is ranked ninth among 40 competitors with a personal best of 14.52m in the shot put field at Washburn. Chama El Hadiri holds the quickest mile time in the field this weekend. Her personal best of 4:50 is 20+ seconds better than the next closest contestant. Joella Mathilda also comes into the competition with the seventh quickest time in the 800m field which includes 10 competitors. Eloy Serrano Borrego is rated second among the 20 runners in the competition.

4x4 – About the Competition: The Sneed Indoor Athletic Facility will be the host site of the Washburn Alumni Invitational in Topeka, Kan. In total, 762 student-athletes from 48 programs are expected to compete. ENMU boasts 44 entries in the meet. The meet will begin with long jump (W), pole vault (W), weight throw (W), and shot put (M) at 12 p.m. CT. The first racing event will be the 60m hurdles for the men at 1:30 p.m. CT. The meet will be streamed on the MIAA Network.
