PORTALES, N.M. –Eastern New Mexico Baseball makes the short to trip to Canyon, Texas this weekend for a four-game series with West Texas A&M. The series starts on Friday, Feb. 14, playing a single nine-inning game beginning at 1 p.m. (MST) / 2 p.m. (CST). The next day, February 15, ENMU faces the Buffs in a doubleheader beginning at 12 & 3 p.m. (MST) / 1 & 4 p.m. (CST). The series finale is scheduled for Sunday, February 16, with first pitch slated for 12 p.m. (MST) / 1 p.m. (CST).

SERIES INSIGHT
- The Greyhounds and Buffs have played 128 times prior to the weekend series, with West Texas A&M leading the all-time series 84-44.
- In last season's four-game series, the Greyhounds and Buffs played out an exciting four-game series, splitting 2-2. Eastern took the first games, 20-10 (7 Inn.) and 8-5, while the Buffs took the final two games (5-4 (10 Inn.) and 15-10).
- Last season's home split was the best result against West Texas A&M since 2006, taking a home split in a four-game series. The last time ENMU went to Canyon (2023), the Greyhounds took one game, 5-1, over the Buffs, their first road win since 2015. The last road series win for the Greyhounds came back in 2004, winning in a sweep over WT.
- West Texas A&M have dominated the all-time series, but the Greyhounds are 3-7 as of late against the Buffs. The teams first played each other in 1994, taking a 18-2 road win.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
- Eastern New Mexico (5-3, 5-3 LSC) is in good standing after the first two conference series', last earning a split against St. Edward's, 2-2. The Greyhounds won both games of the doubleheader in shutout fashion, marking the first back-to-back shutout performances since 2016.
- As a team, the Greyhounds are batting .274 after the opening two weekends. ENMU has scored 47 times from 66 hits. Eastern forced 33 walks, while stealing 15 bases. ENMU scattered 13 doubles, along with two triples, and six homeruns, with 42 RBIs in the first eight games. ENMU's pitching staff have a 4.00 ERA, conceding 31 runs from 67 hits.
- Willie Ponce is the Greyhounds early leader in batting average (.481), runs scored (9), hits (13), and RBIs (7). Luciano Terilli has seven RBIs from the leadoff spot, while designated hitter Anthony Cortese has 10 hits, with five going for extra bases.
- On the mound, Nick Mooney fired a complete game shutout in his last outing, lowering his ERA to just 0.77 (3rd in LSC). Cole Lancaster leads the program with 12 strikeouts over 11.0 innings, but Roman Connolly is the leader in innings pitched, 12.1 IP. Adrian Rubio has struck out six batters in 5.1 scoreless innings as a relief pitcher.
SCOUTING THE BUFFS
- West Texas A&M (3-3, 1-3 LSC) enter after playing a pair of non-conference games. The Buffs beat Southwest (N.M.), 18-5, then beat Wayland Baptist, 3-2. In the conference opening weekend, WT lost three road games against St. Edward's.
- The Buffs pitching has a 5.36 ERA in the opening six games. West Texas A&M's bats sport a .270 batting average to begin the season, scoring 38 runs from 51 hits. WT has produced 15 walks, while stealing five bases on the year. Additionally, West Texas A&M has 36 RBIs, with 11 doubles and seven home runs.
- Kyle Micklus leads the team with a .480 batting average, posting 12 hits in the opening six games. Elijah Batista is the leader in RBIs with nine, while also leading the team in runs scored (8), doubles (3), and home runs (2). Jovan Camacho is a key figure in the batting lineup with a .364 batting average, eight hits and five RBIs.
- Nathan Scott has been the most impressive starting pitcher to begin the season for WT, sporting a 1-0 record in two starts with a 3.72 ERA. Matt Milner has 15 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched so far, with a 1-1 record. Max Lankford and Davis Luikart both have a 0.00 ERA out of the bullpen, with Luikart striking out seven with no hits allowed over 3.1 innings.
