PORTALES, N.M. – The final regular season meet for the indoor slate is here. Before Eastern New Mexico men's and women's track and field go to Albuquerque for the Don Kirby Elite Invite, please take a look at the 4x4 Preview:
1x4 – TTU Recap: Four Greyhounds earned personal best marks at the Stan Scott Invitational two weeks ago.
Jha'Niah Johnson posted a 15.12m (49-7.25) mark in the weight throw.
Gabriela Elizalde earned a PB in the 200m as she finished the race in 25.65s. The men saw
Braden Mounyo finish the 60m hurdles in 8.56s and
Jamoi Jackson race to a 47.10s result in the 400m, which now ranks second in school record books.
2x4 - #EventSquad: For the last three weeks the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has released their weekly #EventSquad list. Four events for women's track and field are among the top 50 nationally. Those include 60m (21st), weight throw (37th), long jump (45th), and 400m (50th). As for the men, three events are part of the top 50 rankings. Those include 60m hurdles (12th), 400m (26th), and long jump (41st). The rankings use a team's top four ranked student-athletes and presents a list based on finish among top competitors nationally.
3x4 – Nationals Outlook: With one month remaining until the national championships in Indianapolis, three student-athletes are on the verge of making an appearance at the event with provisional marks.
Grizell Scarlett will look to improve her 60m time as she enters this week ranked 48th among sprinters with a 7.60s time. To move into the top ten, she will need to run around 7.40s at this weekends meet.
Jamoi Jackson is sixth in the nation with a 47.21s run in the 400m. His time currently puts him in a position to attend nationals in March. Jackson will run the 60m and 200m in Albuquerque this weekend. Lastly, freshman
Strahinja Radakovic sits in the top 30 among competitors in the 60m hurdles. He will need to run 7.90s or quicker to be in the top ten in the nation as the performance list currently sits. Radakovic's best time is 8.08s with altitude conversion. Most events will only take 16 student-athletes for the national meet.
4x4 – ENMU Entries: The Greyhounds will be represented with 63 entries in 22 total events at the Don Kirby Elite meet this weekend in Albuquerque. The 60m will be the most popular event for ENMU this week as 14 Greyhounds will participate in the short sprint. Seven will compete for the men and seven will compete for the women. The second most entries in an event for the men's team is the 60m hurdles as four Hounds will run in the field of 47 competitors. The women's team will see five enter the 200m which comprises 122 entries and five jumpers will participate in the long jump with 92 total jumpers.
