Jorge Araiza Joins Volleyball Coaching Staff As Assistant Coach

Araiza brings in over 10 years of club coaching experience, joining from UTEP as an assistant coach

Jorge Araiza joins the Greyhound Volleyball Staff in February 2025 as an assistant coach, ahead of their first season with Eastern New Mexico in 2025.

Araiza joins the Greyhounds following a four-year tenure with the University of Texas-El Paso (UTEP), holding various roles with the program's indoor volleyball and beach volleyball programs. Araiza began his time with the Miners indoor program as a Volunteer Team Manager and was elevated to Graduate Assistant. In his roles with the team, Araiza assisted in coaching duties, planning and conducting practices, helping with administrative tasks, and contributed to the overall program development through data analysis, video review, and community outreach initiatives. In his final season at UTEP, Araiza aided the program to its first NCAA Tournament in program history during the 2024 season. In their capacity with the beach volleyball program, Araiza served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach, helping with the daily operations, along with recording and analyzing game footage.

During his time with the Miners, Araiza also gained coaching experience at the club level, holding various roles with Texas Storm Volleyball Academy and Sun City Royals VBC. Araiza started as the owner, club director, and head coach of the Sun City Royals, overseeing the club's financial planning, fundraising efforts, and supporting club operations, while recruiting, hiring, and managing the coaching staff. Araiza then moved onto a coaching role with the Texas Storm, assisting the head coach in planning and executing training sessions, while providing individualized coaching to players during matches and practices.

Araiza earned a Bachelor of Philosophy from UTEP in 2024, while graduating from Gadsden High School (Anthony, New Mexico) in 2014.
