Greyhound men's track and field posts several key marks at West Texas Relays

Eastern New Mexico men's track and field opens outdoor season at West Texas A&M

CANYON, Texas – Eastern New Mexico men's track and field split the opening weekend of the outdoor season as some went to the West Texas Relays hosted by fellow Lone Star Conference institution West Texas A&M.

The Hounds were treated to a sunshine-filled day with calm winds for a majority of the meet. The breeze picked up towards the latter half of the afternoon, but stayed lower than typical west Texas spring weather.

In his first outdoor meet for ENMU, Steve Taylor II shined in the short sprints. The senior posted a speedy 10.55s time in the 100m and recorded a personal record of 21.80s in the 200m.
Omarion Scott was the Hounds top finisher in the 400m as he ran the event in 49.21s.

One of the strongest events of the meet came in the high jump. William Mclilly tied his high school personal record with a 1.88m (6-2) clearance. He breezed through his first three heights before he reached the height directly after his 1.88m mark.

Cooper Burgess also had a personal best jump. His came in the long jump with a leap of 6.67m (21-10.75).

The meet showcased a trio of Lone Star Conference institutions. Lubbock Christian and West Texas A&M were the other two participants in the meet, including ENMU.
