PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico men's and women's track and field hosts the 2025 Greyhound Open this Saturday. Before the meet begins, please take a look at the 4x4 Preview:
1x4 – Weekend Recap: ENMU is coming off a weekend where both squads split up. One group of Hounds went to the Willie Williams Classic hosted by the University of Arizona. The other crew went to the West Texas Relays hosted by West Texas A&M.
Noe Ybaben Burciaga had a strong start to his outdoor season with a personal best 44.65m (146-6) throw in the hammer.
Thomas Aerdts also had a good finish for Eastern as he completed the 800m race in 1:52.35.
Celina Thomas had a pair of excellent performances in the jumps. She posted a 5.32m (17-5.5) mark in long jump and an 11.84m (38-10.25) performance in triple jump.
Jha'Niah Johnson made the most of the outdoor season opener with a personal best 43.77m (143-7) throw in the hammer. At the West Texas Relays,
Steve Taylor II impressed in the short sprints with a personal best time of 21.80s in the 200m. For the women,
Meredith Brown had a personal best time of 25.85s in the 200m.
Leslie Jaquez also opened well for ENMU with a personal best of 39.76m (130-5) in the hammer.
2x4 – Provisional Hounds: After the first two meets, the Greyhounds hold three NCAA DII provisional marks. The women's 4x100 of
Grizell Scarlett,
Riley Midgett,
Gabriela Elizalde, and
Jodian Stewart finished the Willie Williams Classic with a 46.43s time. The sprint is tied for tenth nationally. The men's 4x400 of
Tre Buchanan,
Elijah Davis,
Kyler Joe, and
Timothy Frederick earned a time of 3:13.26 at the Willie Williams Classic. They rank seventh among 4x400 squads nationally. For a second-straight season,
Kennedy Ulmer has thrown a provisional mark in the discus. She tossed 46.65m (153-1) at the Willie Williams Classic and ranks fourth in the nation.
3x4 – School Record: Devyn Ericksen now holds the school record in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.72s. She completed the feat at the Willie Williams Classic. Ericksen now holds both the short sprint hurdle event school records in indoor and outdoor. The freshman has the sixth fastest time among Lone Star Conference runners in the event this season. She will compete in the 100m hurdles and the 200m at the Greyhound Open Saturday.
4x4 – Greyhound Open: Eastern New Mexico will host a home meet for a second-straight season. The meet begins at 10 a.m. with shot put, javelin, long jump, and the women's 5000m. New Mexico State, West Texas A&M, Lubbock Christian, Oklahoma Panhandle State, and Wayland Baptist will compete in the meet. The busiest events for the meet will be the women's 100m and the men's 200m. Both events have 25 entries. The women's throws will also be jam-packed as 22 student-athletes will compete in the hammer throw and 18 will enter the discus. Live results will be available
