PORTALES, N.M. – Six Eastern New Mexico men's track and field student-athletes won an event at the Greyhound Open.
Jamoi Jackson (10.61s) took top honors in the 100m in a field of 17 competitors.
Timothy Frederick (48.74s) was the only 400m runner to post a sub-49 time to win the competition against 18 other runners.
Not only did
Alec Forney earn a personal best time of 1:59.91, but he also won the 800m race. One of the strongest races for ENMU was in the 110m hurdles. All three Hounds took the top three honors, including
Strahinja Radakovic who won the event with a 14.10s time ranking second in ENMU record books. His time is a provisional mark and currently ranks tenth nationally.
Byron Pruitt continued the Hounds success in the 400m hurdles. His time of 57.21s was just good enough to win the event by half a second.
ENMU's top 4x400 team won the event with a 3:18.66 time. The group included
Tre Buchanan,
Jamoi Jackson,
Timothy Frederick, and
Kyler Joe. The relay time ranks fourth in school history.
Another notable mark for Eastern came in the hammer throw.
Noe Ybaben Burciaga took third in the event with a personal record throw of 45.75m. He improved his mark, which ranks third in school history.
The Greyhounds will head to the Bill Schmidt Invite hosted by North Texas University next week. The meet will run Friday and Saturday.
