Canyon, Texas – Eastern New Mexico men's track and field had a great showing at the Jo Meaker Classic hosted by West Texas A&M.

The meet began with the decathlon, which ran from Thursday to Friday. ENMU's Hemon Joseph earned a personal best point total of 6477. His finish is the second best in school history and the best since the 1970s.

Joseph had an excellent meet all-around, but his performance was highlighted by a pair of personal records in the 110m hurdles (15.30s) and discus (36.07m). He also impressed the field with the furthest javelin throw (59.15m) of the day. His point total ranks 20th among all DII competitors in the decathlon and is a provisional score. He ranks fourth in the LSC with his finish.

Joseph was joined by Alex Williams (59.17m) with individual provisional marks in the javelin. Williams threw for the first time this season after earning first team all-american honors in 2024. The two teammates currently hold the top two spots in the event among LSC throwers.

"The guys showed up and competed," said head coach Joshua Harden. "After battling rainy weather last weekend, we had beautiful weather this weekend and they executed in a big way."

Timothy Frederick bettered his school record in the 400m with a 46.59s finish. His time ranks seventh in DII and first in the Lone Star Conference. Frederick was also joined by Steve Taylor II, Nicolo Salaris, and Jude Murray in a 4x100 crew that put up a 40.49s NCAA DII provisional mark.

Both Steve Taylor II (10.47s) and Jude Murray (10.59s) boast top 12 times in the 100m after performances that saw each of them earn personal records in the short sprint. Braden Mounyo earned a top ten mark among conference competitors after two personal records. He clocked a 14.75s finish in the 110m hurdles and posted a 13.75m (45-1.5) leap in the triple jump.

Another Greyhound with an impressive personal best run was Byron Pruitt. The newcomer earned a 56.06s result in the 400m hurdles and now sits in seventh among the LSC.

The 4x100 relay team bettered their season total and now rank fourth in the conference. They sit one-hundredth of a second ahead of Angelo State who sits in the fifth spot.

William Mclilly has the sixth best clearance in the conference at 1.93m (6-4) after an impressive personal best showing in the high jump.

The Greyhounds will follow up the Jo Meaker Classic with another meet hosted by West Texas A&M when they compete in the Buffalo Invitational next Thursday.
