PORTALES, N.M. – Taking their final road trip of the regular season this weekend, Eastern New Mexico Baseball heads to San Angelo, Texas to take on the top team in the LSC, #2 Angelo State for a four-game conference series. The series begins on Thursday, April 17, playing a single game at 5:30 p.m. (MST) / 6:30 p.m. (CST). The series continues Friday, April 18, with a doubleheader scheduled for 3 p.m. (MST) / 4 p.m. (MST) and 6 p.m. (MST) / 7 p.m. (CST). The two teams wrap up the four-game series on Saturday, April 19, with the finale scheduled for 12 p.m. (MST) / 1 p.m. (CST).

SERIES INSIGHT
- Angelo State have dominated the all-time series leading 72-20, with a lead over the Greyhounds in conference play, 62-18.
- Last season, Eastern shocked Angelo State in the first week of the season, taking a 2-2 split in Portales. ASU came in as the reigning national champions and the number one team in the nation before falling in two games against Eastern.
- The two losses snapped a 21-game losing streak for the Greyhounds, as ENMU are 2-8 in their last ten games against ASU. Angelo State has controlled the series when on home turf, leading 40-8 when playing in San Angelo. ENMU's last win on the road against Angelo State occurred in 2018.
- Both teams faced off for the first time in 2005, with the Greyhounds taking a split of a four-game series in San Angelo, Texas. ENMU won the first ever game between the teams (14-8) going on to win the second game of the doubleheader later in the day (9-7).
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
- Eastern New Mexico (26-16, 24-16 LSC) are having their best season in conference play securing at least a .500 mark in conference for the first time in program history. Recently, the Greyhounds earned a 2-2 split with Lubbock Christian, taking a split with LCU for the first time in program history.
- The Greyhounds offense has set several program records already this season, being in the top-10 in the nation for walks (6th) and triples (8th), and the top-25 for on-base percentage (11th), runs (17th), slugging percentage (18th), and doubles (20th). For totals, the Greyhounds have scored 362 runs on 406 hits, while holding 90 doubles, with 18 triples, and 49 home runs. Collectively, ENMU have a 6.79 ERA with 289 runs allowed from 413 hits. Eastern has struck out 237 batters, with opposing hitters batting .318.
- Willie Ponce leads the Hounds in batting average entering the weekend, batting .415 with 61 hits and 44 runs scored. Terilli is at the same mark for hits with 61, while leading the team with 54 runs scored and 40 walks. The Greyhounds cleanup hitter of recent games, Anthony Cortese, has 42 RBIs with hits this year, while Jalen Freeman leads the program with 43 RBIs.
- Recently being named conference and region pitcher of the week, Adrian Rubio leads the Hounds bullpen with 43 strikeouts over 14 appearances with a 6-1 record. Josaiah Estrella has won six of his seven starts on the mound this season, leading all eligible pitchers with a 4.14 ERA. Cole Lancaster and Nick Mooney both have four wins on the mound this season, while Demitirus DiMatteo has started the opening game in the last three series for ENMU.
SCOUTING THE #2 RAMS
- Angelo State (35-7, 33-7 LSC) have not missed a beat in 2025, winning 17 of their last 18 games. The regining national runner-up enters the weekend with a #2 ranking from the National Colligate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), while being the #1 team in the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D2 Baseball polls. Recently, the Rams took a four-game series against West Texas A&M, outscoring the Buffs 55-20.
- The Rams top the LSC in several different hitting metrics, with ASU leading the team in nation in batting average (.378). Angelo State also leads the country in doubles (114), on-base percentage (.501), runs (464), while being third in hits (499). ASU are just as good on the mound, with a 4.71 ERA sitting second in the LSC, allowing 190 runs over 315.1 innings, with 339 strikeouts (1st in LSC).
- Four different Rams are hitting above .400 this season, led by Austin Beck. Beck leads the program with 27 stolen bases this season, while Jacob Guerrero has a team high 65 hits and 59 runs. Tayten Tredaway and Lane Hutchinson both have over 50 RBIs this season, with 56 and 55 respectively.
- Leading the Rams on the mound, Dax Dathe has been tough to hit this season with a 2.82 ERA and a 7-1 record in eight starts. Nick Wilson leads the pitching staff with 49.1 innings pitched, while Keene Kreusler's 18 appearances are a team high. Alizaeh Gutierrez has started every game they have played in this season (10), pitching to a 4.71 ERA.
