RICHARDSON, Texas –
Jodian Stewart is the Lone Star Conference female field athlete of the week. The honor comes after the jumps specialist bettered her school record in the long jump at the Jo Meaker Classic.
"Very proud of Jodi," said head coach
Joshua Harden. "I still see more to come for her. Every day she comes ready to compete and I look forward to seeing how the season progresses."
Stewart bettered her school record with a 6.31m (20-8.5) in the long jump to finish first at the Jo Meaker Classic. Her mark ranks first in the conference and third in NCAA DII.
Her first two jumps of the day at the meet included 6.31m and 6.27m.
The sophomore also ran a leg for the 4x100 team that finished with a 45.90s time. The result is the second fastest in school history and earned a third place nod in the meet. Lastly, Stewart clocked a personal record time of 12.06s in the 100m.
Eastern New Mexico track and field will compete at the Don Kirby Twilight next week for their final meet before the conference championships.
