DENTON, Texas –
Helena Carboo-Klutsey led the way for Eastern New Mexico women's track and field as she earned a pair of top five finishes at the Bill Schmidt Invite Saturday.
"Glad we got an opportunity to compete today," said head coach
Joshua Harden after the competition. "We were able to get out and compete."
The originally scheduled two-day meet was moved to only Saturday events as a rainstorm forced the changes. Despite the rainy conditions, it provided a chance for ENMU to compete against some solid competition in the DFW area.
Carboo-Klutsey earned a third place nod in the 400m with a 59.70s time and followed that with a fifth place finish in the 200m with a 25.09s time.
All three Greyhounds in the 400m ran in the top ten.
Meghan Rodriguez finished sixth with a 1:02.55 mark and
Meredith Brown closed out the trio in ninth place with a 1:03.70 time.
Junior
Kennedy Ulmer also posted a ninth place finish in the hammer throw. She posted a 42.66m (139-11) throw on her second attempt of the day.
Eastern New Mexico will compete in Canyon, Texas next weekend at the Jo Meaker Classic hosted by West Texas A&M. The events will run on Friday and Saturday.
