PORTALES, N.M. – Eastern New Mexico men's track and field came up with four event victorious at the 2025 Lone Star Conference outdoor track and field championships.
"That's a big step for our men's program," said head coach
Joshua Harden when asked about the team's finish. "Just a year ago we had a lot of disappointment to be honest on our men's side. To be able to come in and have some guys fill in the gaps is major. It shows that we are starting to become a well-rounded team, and I am exciting about our direction and tempo."
Hemon Joseph set the tone for the Greyhounds. The senior posted a personal record and school record 6671 points in the decathlon. He posted four personal best marks on his way to the decathlon title. Those PB's came in 400m (50.89s), 110mH (15.18s), discus (37.62m), and 1500m (5:28.06).
Saturday's competition saw the Hounds win the other three titles.
Alex Williams won the javelin throw with a 65.90m (216-2) toss. Williams has moved up one place in each of his three championships that he has competed in. He took third in 2023, second in 2024, and now first in 2025. Eastern New Mexico also managed to earn points in the javelin thanks to a second place nod from
Hemon Joseph as he threw 56.06m (183-11) and
Devin Gallegos took seventh with a 44.63m (146-5) throw.
Jamoi Jackson had an excellent championship weekend as he was part of two first place finishes. He was the top finisher in the prelims and exceeded the level of competition as he won the 400m with a 45.86s time. His time is more than seventh-tenths of a second better than the previous school record mark held by teammate
Timothy Frederick.
The 4x100 team of

Timothy Frederick, and
Jamoi Jackson raced to a championship title as they won the race with a 40.19s time. The quad of Hounds was anchored by Jackson who sprinted to the finish line with a roaring crowd. The time is the second fastest in school history.
